What is
SUPERSEED II
CHAMPIONSHIP?

The SUPERSEED II CHAMPIONSHIP is an online pitching competition curated by Gobi Partners and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC). It provides an opportunity to early-stage startups to boost their businesses and realize their potential in the Malaysian market.

Our goal is to empower local startups by providing a platform to prove their value and help them through these challenging times. It is our hope that by hosting this competition, we will be helping to further develop Malaysia’s entrepreneurial scene and boost up-and-coming startups that are motivated and ready to disrupt traditional industries with technological innovation. 

4 INDUSTRY SECTORS
Startups across 4 different industry sectors will be participating in an elimination-style competition.

64 STARTUPS
The Championship will see a total of 64 startups going head to head in order to part of the 8 chosen for the final round of the competition, which will be a full pitch session in front of a panel of industry experts.
4 STAGES
Startups will be put through 4 different stages during the competition, which will echo the real journey of fundraising from investors.
RM 15 Million
The Championship offers startups the opportunity to win funding of up to RM 15 million as well as other prizes. (subject to due diligence)

STAGE I

VOTE

MAY THE HIGHEST VOTES WIN

64 startups will compete against selected contenders, startups with the highest accumulated votes from public and judges will advance to the next stage.

STAGE II

VIDEO

THE PROOF IS IN THE VIDEO

32 startups will upload a 3-minute (or less) video about their company. Judges will vote for startups with the best ideas to advance to the next stage.

STAGE III

REVIEW

LET'S TALK IT OVER

Startups will be reached out by the Championship Committee for a preliminary review after which only 8 will be chosen for the final stage.

STAGE IV

PITCH

THE STAGE IS YOURS

Startups will present a full pitch to our panel of judges. Companies with the highest amount of points will be crowned as winners of the Championship.

Participation Criteria

The SUPERSEED II Championship is open to startups that meet the criteria below:

  • Early-stage (Seed to Pre-Series A) companies; 
  • Malaysian incorporated entities; 
  • Companies with Malaysian founders or shareholders; 
  • Companies with substantial operations in Malaysia; and
  • Companies with concrete plans to expand their business to Malaysia.

Championship Verticals

Startups in the following key verticals will be considered for the competition:

  • Retail & Enterprise (including AI, B2B, B2C, Big Data, E-commerce, and Logistics
  • FinTech (including Crowdfunding, InsureTech, Mobile Payments,P2P Lending, and Robo-advisors)
  • Smart Cities & Circular Economy (including Construction Solutions, e-hailing,Environment Solutions, IoT, Mobility Solutions, Public Transport Solutions)
  • TaqwaTech (companies providing products and services to Muslim consumers)

Championship Prizes

Up to RM 15 Million* in funding from SuperSeed Fund II and a potential grant from Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC)
A chance to attend an exclusive entrepreneurship program curated by Alibaba Business School
Wild card entry to Sunway Group’s iLab Accelerator Program
Cloud credits and a CXO (Customer Experience Officer) Club membership.

*Up to RM15 million in funding will be made available to winning startups; amount is subject to due diligence.
